Lockboxy is a private vault disguised as a calculator, notes app, weather app, or utility app — you choose which. Enter your secret passcode into that disguise's own trigger (keypad, search bar, or converter field) to open your encrypted vault for photos, videos, files, notes, a password/card wallet, voice recordings, private contacts, and a private browser.

Getting started

On first launch, the app asks you to set a secret passcode (a number sequence ending with a set trigger, e.g. 1998 then =). Write it down somewhere safe.

To open the vault later, type that passcode into your chosen disguise's own trigger: keypad + "=" for Calculator, the search bar for Notes or Weather, or the Unit Converter/Currency fields for Utility (see the Disguise section on the home page). The disguise otherwise works normally.

Inside the vault you'll find tabs for Media, Files, Wallet, Notes, Browser, Audio, and Contacts.

You don't have to open the vault first to add content: select photos, videos, or files in Photos, Files, or any other app, tap Share, then choose whichever disguise you've set. They'll be waiting in Media, Files, or Audio the next time you open the vault (iOS only for now).
Frequently asked questions
I forgot my passcode. Can you reset or recover my data?
By default, no — this is intentional. Your data is encrypted with a key derived from your passcode, which we never store and never receive. There is no backdoor and no reset. If the passcode is lost and you never set up a Recovery Key, the data cannot be recovered by anyone. Premium users can generate a one-time Recovery Key in advance (Settings → Recovery Key) as a sanctioned fallback — please keep your passcode (and Recovery Key, if you generate one) safe.
How do I unlock the vault if I'm using the Notes, Weather, or Utility disguise instead of Calculator?
Each disguise has its own trigger, all set from the same Settings screen where you switch disguises: Notes — type your code in the search bar (or a note's title/body), then press search. Weather — type it in the city search bar, then press search. Utility — open Unit Converter or Currency, type it into the input field, then press done. Only Calculator uses the keypad + "=".
Is my data uploaded to the cloud or to your servers?
No. Lockboxy has no account and no server. Everything stays encrypted on your device.
How do I hide photos or videos?
Open the vault → Media tab → tap + → select items → Hide. On iOS, the system shows its own confirmation before removing the originals from your Photos library — this popup is required by iOS and cannot be skipped.
Can I share photos, videos, files, or audio into the vault from other apps?
Yes — select item(s) in Photos, Files, Voice Memos, or any other app, tap Share, then choose whichever disguise you've set Lockboxy to. They're saved encrypted and appear in Media, Files, or Audio the next time you open the vault — no need to open Lockboxy first. iOS only for now; Android support is planned.
How do I get my photos back out?
Select the item(s) in the vault → Unhide → they are decrypted and written back to your Photos library.
Can I search or extract text from a hidden photo?
On iOS, open a photo in the vault and tap "Extract text" to run on-device text recognition and view the result — nothing is uploaded, and the extracted text isn't saved or made searchable yet.
What's the difference between Free and Premium?
Free includes the full security core and lets you hide up to 30 photos/videos and 10 files, and shows occasional ads. Premium removes those limits and the ads, and unlocks features like Decoy Vault, Intruder Selfie, a Security Log, a Recovery Key for passcode loss, and more.
What does Premium cost?
Monthly, Yearly (with a 3-day free trial), or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Prices in Vietnam are Monthly ₫49,000, Yearly ₫299,000, and a one-time Lifetime ₫599,000. Prices vary by country/region, and the exact price is always shown in the app before you buy.
How do I start the free trial or cancel a subscription?
Start it from the Premium screen. Manage or cancel any subscription in Settings → your Apple ID/Google Play → Subscriptions on your device. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged.
I paid but Premium isn't active on my new device.
Open the Premium screen and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the same account you purchased with.
Why does the app ask for Camera / Microphone / Photos permission?
Only for the feature you're using: Photos to import/restore media, Microphone to record audio into the vault, Camera only if you enable Intruder Selfie. Nothing captured is uploaded — it is encrypted into the vault.
How do I change the language or theme?
In the vault's Settings you can switch language (English / Tiếng Việt) and choose Auto / Light / Dark appearance.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual items in the vault, or uninstall the app to remove everything from the device. Since nothing is stored on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
